Two Safari Stainless Steel Cat Nail Trimmers
Safari's stainless steel nail trimmers have long-lasting, sharp cutting edges that are perfect for cats and kittens. The comfort grip handles and compact size make them easy to use.
To trim your cat's claws, make sure the cat is resting in a comfortable position to minimize stress. Hold your cat often and get kitty used to having the paws handled without trimming claws, so this becomes a familiar, comfortable routine. Choose a time when the cat is already relaxed. Also put yourself into a calm frame of mind, as the cat will pick up on your own emotions. Pet the cat and talk softly or sing to her. Build trust between you, touching the paws and holding them so the cat understands that you are not trying to hurt him. While holding an arm around the cat to keep it from escaping, hold the paw on which you're working and press gently on the toe to push the claw out. Take care not to catch the pink quick of the claw, which will cause pain and bleeding. To prevent splitting or fraying of the nail, cut the sharp part of the nail from top to bottom, not side to side. Clip the claw, release it, and move on to the next toe. Maintain your friendly chatter or song and petting your cat during the entire process. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes, and kitty will be all pedicured and ready to go for another couple of weeks!
