To trim your cat's claws, make sure the cat is resting in a comfortable position to minimize stress. Choose a time when the cat is already relaxed. Pet the cat and talk softly or sing to her. Build trust between you, touching the paws and holding them so the cat understands that you are not trying to hurt him. While holding an arm around the cat to keep it from escaping, hold the paw on which you're working and press gently on the toe to push the claw out.
