Mat Removing Cat Comb

This long-toothed comb has blades that slice through mats and tangles to remove them easily, even on long-haired cats.
- Plastic handle with hole for hanging.

Grooming a cat whose coat has gotten matted can really be a job! Most cats won’t like it, as it hurts them when you pull on the still-attached hairs embedded in the mats. Those mats are also great hiding places for insects such as fleas, ticks, and mites, so it’s essential to keep your cat’s coat free of them. You can make it easier on both you and your cat by using one of these dematting rakes. Its teeth are actually like razors, cutting through the mat so there’s less pulling of hair.
To use a dematting rake, start just above the matted area. Be gentle, as pulling and stretching of the skin underneath the mat can cause a break in the skin and lead to infection. Lift up the matted part and pick your way through it, almost as though teasing hair. This will loosen the mat. Once you have done this, you can remove the mat with a slicker brush.
