American artist Kay Fazio has been creating beautiful cat jewelry in 14kt gold and sterling silver since 1999. Her very first piece was a Bengal cat pendant for herself to honor “Sterling”, her own Bengal. Kay is passionate about her cats, and knowledgeable about the features of breeds. In her jewelry, you’ll not only see those details, but hints at that breed’s personality. The details are exquisite, with each hair of the coat in place. About This Breed: The hybrid Savannah cat is a cross between a purebred domestic cat and the wild Serval cat that was developed in the 1990s and recognized as a breed by the ICA in 2001. Often compared to dogs in personality, Savannahs can weigh 20 pounds or more and stand taller than most domestic cats. Its retained wild characteristics may include its coat pattern, large erect ears with “ocelli” markings on the backs, long legs, ringed tail, wide nose, cheetah-like facial markings, and hooded eyebrows. They are excellent jumpers, able to leap around 8 feet, and are extremely loyal to their chosen people. Their high intelligence and curious nature can make them a bit mischievous, and they even enjoy swimming! Because Savannahs are a hybrid breed, some states have restrictions on ownership of them.
