Collegiate Licensed Nylon Cat Safety Collar

Let your cat strut school spirit in style and with safety in mind!

You know how they are; cats get into everything! They squeeze into tight places, crawl under things, and lurk in the bushes. Their bodies are designed to give them the flexibility to pursue prey into these spots, but this can present a danger if the cat is wearing an inflexible collar. To avoid choking or strangling your cat, a collar needs to have some type of safety release, or be loose enough that the cat can slip out of it if the collar gets caught on something. This is why you should only put collars specifically designed for cats on your little fur baby. They are usually made with either a quick-release safety catch, or with elastic to expand enough to slip over the cat’s head.

Keep a few on hand, too; cats who go outdoors are especially likely to lose them. Our outdoor cat lost so many that if we ever removed all the shrubbery around our house, we’d probably find dozens of them!

For a proper fit, use the “two fingers” rule: you should be able to comfortably fit two fingers inside the collar when it’s on your cat. If you can’t fit your finger in there, it’s too tight. You can also tell if it’s too loose when you do this, as you should feel a little pressure from the collar when your fingers are there. If your cat has never worn a collar before, it may take a little time for her to become accustomed to it. She’ll try to take it off during this time, so just have some patience, fuss over how pretty she looks in it, and keep putting it back on her when she takes it off. She’ll soon be sporting it around like it’s a queen’s crown!
