Cheshire Cat Pendant in Sterling Silver
Jewelry artist Kay Fazio has a way with capturing the expressions of cats - but who says they have to be real cats? This Cheshire Cat pendant is an adorable way to cherish a favorite fictional feline character...or to tell the world that you're absolutely mad about cats! It's made in solid sterling (.925) silver.
The pendant weighs approximately 13 grams. Dimensions are 1.25 inches wide x 1.5 inches high. Bail is hidden behind his tail, and at 4 millimeters x 7 millimeters, it will easily accommodate a solid chain or cord (not included).
U.S. artist Kay Fazio has been creating beautiful cat jewelry in 14kt gold and sterling silver since 1999. Her very first piece was a Bengal cat pendant for herself to honor “Sterling”, her own Bengal. Kay is passionate about her cats, and knowledgeable about the features of breeds. In her jewelry, you’ll not only see those details, but hints at that breed’s personality. The details are exquisite, with each hair of the coat in place. The cats’ captivating facial expressions will capture your heart!
About the Cheshire Cat: First introduced to modern readers in Lewis Carroll's 1865 book, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, the Cheshire Cat is known for his grin, the last thing to disappear when he vanishes. But you may be surprised to learn that the reputation of cats from Cheshire to grin originates long before Carroll's time. References are made to a grinning Cheshire cat in books from the 1700s, and there are even carvings and gargoyles of grinning cats on 16th century churches, including those at Grappenhall, North Yorkshire, and Cranleigh. The image is believed to have originated from a sign painter's ungainly attempt to draw a rampant lion on the crest of a prominent family from the Cheshire area.
Be aware that this is hand-crafted jewelry and the artist will make it after you place your order. These are not sitting around in a warehouse somewhere waiting to be shipped. Depending on her workload at the time she receives the order, it may take up to a month for you to receive your pendant.
