Struggling writer Paul Varjak (George Peppard) moves into a New York apartment building and becomes intrigued by his pretty, quirky neighbor Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn). Holly's lifestyle confuses and fascinates Paul; in public she flits through parties with a sexy, sophisticated air, but when they're alone she changes into a sweetly vulnerable bundle of neuroses.
Why do we carry this film on Old Maid Cat Lady? Who can forget the poignant scene when Holly realizes how much she longs for love and rescues “Cat” from the rainy alley where she’d tossed him out? Cat is a literary symbol for everything Holly wants, and that's enough to make any old maid cat lady love this movie!
Movie trivia fact: The name of the yellow tabby who played “Cat” was actually Putney. This was his only film.
